About Us

Who We Are

Building Blocks for Health Equity (BB4HE) is a unit within Alameda County Public Health Department that houses three initiatives: Building Blocks Collaborative (BBC), Best Babies Zone (BBZ) and Health Equity & Resource Advocates (HERA).  Who’s in BB4HE? There is a dedicated staff working on the initiatives.  Bina Shrimali manages the unit and full-time staff includes Jessica Luginbuhl, Deja Kono, Kali Cheung, and Mariela Uribe.  We welcome any feedback and love new partnerships! Email Jessica.luginbuhl@acgov.org with suggestions or ways to connect!

Check out the Pulse of Oakland to learn more about the connection between health and place, including an interview with our very own, Bina Shrimali!

Why We Exist

BB4HE transforms the way we define and promote health in Alameda County.  We bring together people with the ideas, connections, and skills to create conditions where every child has an equal chance at a healthy and fulfilling life. We offer space for new projects to take root and great ideas to take flight.
