Where the rubber meets the road….
“Be subversive.” These are the sage words of Mario Drummonds, the Executive Director of the Northern Manhattan Perinatal Partnership who provided us with an overview of his remarkable efforts in Harlem.
Mario is one of a kind – having a background rooted in both social work (MSW) and business (MBA). And he is full of passion, enthusiasm and energy. When you mix all of these qualities together, out comes successful programs that create profound, positive changes for individuals and communities.
And then there is the analytical and practical Mario. Is there a problem with existing staff knowing how to proceed? Educate them. Don’t have enough resources? Create profit-making enterprises within the organization.
This presentation is a high-level, A-Z roadmap that shows us how Mario was able to achieve his organization’s goals in Harlem. He walks us through many of the steps – the building blocks – that resulted in sustainable programs that lift the community and can last for decades.
Mario is living proof that some saints are subversive.
